It’s getting to that time of year where our news feeds are constantly clogged up with Christmas wish lists. Bloggers are in an enviable position where the entire world are able to see exactly which prints/marble accessories/Naked palettes they are lusting over. There is now no need to sit down for the awkward, ‘So what do you want?’ conversation when you can just send your SO your latest link. Absolutely no need to call your Nan and make sure both of you have the Argos catalogue out and you’re communicating only in serial numbers. Nope not when you’ve got a wishlist.
However, aside from the material things that us bloggers are currently craving, there are a few other things that we’d all love this Christmas.
Our DA to increase. Waiting for a Moz update is like the world’s shittiest advent calendar counting down to disappointment. For those of you who don’t know, DA means domain authority, put simply, how well your blog is doing metrically (probs not a word). Everyone starts out at 0 and some climb to the dizzying heights of 30+. Every few weeks, Moz, the DAddies, update their index and revalue your blog. Bloggers wait for this moment with a huge amount of trepidation and are normally left feeling a little deflated. So this year, will you bump us up like 5 points or more Father Christmoz?
PRs to stop sending shitty press releases. I don’t know how you guys feel about emails. I BLOODY love them because occasionally they are from an awesome PR or brand inviting me to an event or asking me to review something I’d love (and not tyres – been there). But at least 6 times a day, a press release on the latest in Portuguese cookware or bed bug poison makes its way into my inbox and I can’t help but get slightly pissed off. So Santa, please make the PRs stop.
Our shit to go viral. The sole reason any blogger (me) shares their posts socially is to be in with a chance of it going viral. We always hear the Blogger Urban Legend of the time that one girl got 1 million page views in a day and WE WANT THAT. The closest I’ve ever got was one of my posts being retweeted 38 times and having 400 page views in 2 hours and that shit was like crack. I’m massively Jonesing for that again. So Santa, when you’re dropping off your presents this year, mind dropping a few of my links into every household too?
Our favourite brand to recognise us. We don’t tag our favourite brands and every single one of their PR girls in a tweet or Instagram photo by accident. We want our faves (HI NEW LOOK) to see how much we’re bumming their latest collection and what a stirling job we’re doing at promoting it. So Santa, make those brands wake up and regram one of our pics or thank us for our hard work will ya?
Other bloggers to like us. Sometimes Twitter can feel like standing alone at a college house party where everyone knows each other and you only know the guy that got invited by accident. If you’re lucky, you’ll get chatting to some absolute Blogging Worldies who will engage you in a conversation about your favourite emojis but sometimes your witty and overly drafted tweet will fall on deaf ears. So Father Christmas, make everyone like us.
Dear Blogger, what do you want for Christmas?
