OOOH beauty. One thing I’m terrible at writing about. But fuck it, because I’ve been lapping up the Kylie lip kit reviews and now I’ve got a few of my own, imma discuss it.
I have been wanting Dolce K and Candy K ever since their initial launch and had NEVER been able to get my hands on them. I kept stalking the instagram and videos on YouTube, lusting after them almost as much as I lust after my latest crush. Then Kylie released 22 and OMFG I must have the liquid version of my favourite MAC lipstick – Barbecue – the shades are so similar.
I picked up an Anastasia liquid lipstick in Vegas last year and loved the texture of a creamy application that turns matte BUT AH LOST IT. Cue much cries. So when Bae Kylie announced these babies, I knew somehow I had to get my hands on them.
Here’s a run down on each shade I’ve got:
With all of the kits, you get a lip liner and a liquid lipstick. You’re supposed to line the lips with the liner (groundbreaking) and then fill in with the lipstick. The lipsticks feel quite cold on the lips and have an ice-creamy scent that I’m not a huge fan of. They dry almost instantly into a matte finish. One niggle is that they’re a bit drying on my lips but I really don’t mind because it feels like they aren’t going to smear.
I wore Candy K, a pinky, mauve, brown on a BIG night out over the Easter weekend and I was pleasantly surprised to see that even after a little snog and many glasses of Prosecco, the colour stayed put. This is definitely a go to day out lipstick. I wore with grey/brown eye make up and the whole look made me feel pretty AF.
PS I can’t apply lipstick for shit when hungover. Soz bb.
Now, Dolce K
This shade is a light, nude brown which is a bit too vampy as a day shade for me. I wore it out to hangover lunch because CBA to put on any other make up but still wanted to feel a little sassy and after smashing some garlic bread, I realised it had gone a tad patchy. The liner DID NOT BUDGE which gives me all the heart eye emojis. I’m going to wear this on my next night out where I only have to sip through a straw and pretend I’m Khloe.
And lastly, 22.
I’m feeling twenty two-a-hoo
I saw this shade on Khloe Kardashian first of all and fell in love. I’m a huge red fan, owning almost all of the MAC matte reds, so I knew I should give this one a go.
I LOVE it. It definitely gives my MAC ‘What a blast’ pencil a run for its money as it’s creamier and a lovely light red shade. This is definitely a spring red and with the weather starting (hopefully) to spruce up, I can imagine myself wearing this on a beer garden date with a bardot/Breton combo top. Which reminds me, I need a Bardot/Breton style top.
22 and lazy application.
So there we go! If you want to buy the kits, you have to be super quick so it’s worth following a few Insta accounts that tell you exactly when the launches are. I’m hoping that by the time you read this, I’ve picked up the newest shade, ‘Kourt’ which is a dark purple.
Let me know which of the kits you like the best, if you’ve tried any or which ones you’re lusting after!
